Reverend Genetha Rice-Singleton | Elder in Full Connection
Genetha Rice-Singleton, an Ordained Elder in Full Connection with the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church is a native of Georgetown, South Carolina. Called to "Feed God's Sheep," she centers her ministry work on one of Paul's verses in his letter to the Philippians: 'I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me' (Philippians 4:13, KJV).
Often interpreted as a source of strength and empowerment, this verse is a guiding principle in Genetha's life and ministry. Genetha says that it is undeniably the Grace of Christ that carries her. Genetha's journey as a spirit-filled, born-again Christian is a testament to her personal growth and faith. She strives to show God's light and love in all she does, a journey in which many in the church community can relate and find inspiration.
In 2016, Genetha retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) after 30 years of service. Her primary responsibility at GDOT was to deliver the Department's Construction Work Program, CWP. In delivering the CWP, Genetha coined the phrase "Delivering Excellence"; each project is essential to the citizens the Department serves. Some of Genetha's notable transportation projects include the first High Occupancy Vehicle, HOV, lanes in Atlanta for which she earned the Commissioner's Merit Award, I-20 widening from Hill Street to Columbia Drive, Wesley Chapel Road Widening, and Program Manager for the Andrew Young
International Bridge replacement.
Genetha answered her call to ministry in 2014. After 2014, her journey to Feed God's Sheep took her into the pulpit, where she served as pulpit assistant at Kelley Chapel UMC in Decatur, Georgia from 2014 to 2016, Senior Pastor of Wesley Chapel UMC in Covington, Georgia, from 2016 to 2021, Associate Pastor at Douglasville First UMC from 2021 to 2023, and Associate Pastor at Ben Hill UMC in Atlanta, Georgia, from July 2023 to June 2025.
As Genetha matures spiritually, she utilizes her engineering experiences to fulfill her call to Feed God’s Sheep by building ministry bridges connecting people to God. Genetha’s current and past ministry work includes nurturing, teaching, preaching, community outreach, missional pastoral care, and strategic development. As she fulfills her call, she is Kingdom Harvesting, a term she
coined that refers to the active work of spreading the message of God's Kingdom and bringing people into a relationship with God. Her ministry work has taken her to Peru, Belize, Greece, the borders of McAllen, Texas, and Nairobi, Kenya.
Genetha earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Technology from South Carolina State University and a Master of Divinity Degree from Candler School of Theology, Emory University. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated.
